Thy Will Be Done

Psalm 18: 2-4

I love you, LORD, my strength, LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,

My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my stronghold!

Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! I have been delivered from my enemies.

Commentary:

The addict in me always struggles with seeking the Lord’s guidance to deliver me from self-seeking behavior. Great trust and the grace to surrender my own ways is necessary to accept that His way is the best way and His way will lead to my deliverance. The 3rd Step prayer from Sexaholics Anonymous was always helpful to me in surrendering to God’s way.

“God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy power, Thy love and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.”
