Fruits of Recovery

Mark 4: 8-9

And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit.
It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
He added, “Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.”

Commentary:

Today’s Gospel reading read at Mass is fitting on this the anniversary of Bill W. death, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. Bill W. allowed the seed God planted in him to experience recovery from alcohol addiction, and he took that seed it grew it into the 12 Step program that currently serves over 2 million alcoholics worldwide. He heard the word of God speak to him to go find other alcoholics because he understood that “the only way to keep sober is to give it away to others”.
